Podcast: Websites

In this episode of the Agency501 Podcast, we discuss our website design process. We also weigh the pros and cons of hiring an agency vs. using a freelancer. Shout out to our Art Director, Timothy Fisher, for his insight on this podcast. Timothy leads the website design and development process for all of Agency501’s clients.

First, the obvious

It’s the 21st century…you should take your website seriously.

Agency vs. Freelancer

We have nothing but love for freelancers. We occasionally work with them (and we’ve been them). While it’s true that the initial cost to build a website may be cheaper with a freelancer, you need to consider the following things:

  • Can they guarantee a timeline?
  • Will they be available to make future changes?
  • Will they continue to monitor and manage the health of your site by updating software, plugins, etc.?

What Does a Good Website Cost?

This is the first question most business owners ask us. You can reach out to 10 different agencies/freelancers, and you’ll get ten different quotes. Our solution is always to be fair and not to take on sites that don’t fit within our comfort zone. We typically build websites that range from $5,000-$20,000. Now, we’ve charged more (and less) than this range…these are simply the range that most of our sites fall within.

When it comes to website design, we’re not trying to win awards. We believe in functional design and practice it with every website we make.

Functional and Stylish

Websites need to be functional and pretty. We can make them both. We take a no B.S. approach to website design. As an agency that does a lot of digital marketing for our clients, we understand the primary purpose of a website is to generate leads. When we focus on that, our clients win.
